joey		Breed: Poodle Mix Joey is a Poodle Mix who might be part Maltese. He's an older dog who can't see well anymore, but he can still detect shapes and movement. He would love to find a patient and understanding owner. Weight: 15 lbs Age: 9-12 years old Sex: Male
Molly		Breed: Pit Bull Mix Molly is a sweet lady, but strong. She would be happiest with an experienced owner and as a solo pet because she does not like other dogs. Weight: 38 lbs Age: 6 years old Sex: Female

Panda Bear (a.k.a. roger)		Breed: Kelpie Mix Panda Bear (aka Roger) was found abandoned outside a vet's office and was brought to BARC. He is a young, energetic and friendly pup, who will need additional training. Weight: 55 lbs. Age: 1 year old Sex: Male
Hazel		Breed: Papillon Mix Hazel was brought back to BARC on Christmas Eve. She is a beautiful dog with large, silky butterfly ears. Hazel would do best in a home without children or other pets. Weight: 9 lbs. Age: 5 years old Sex: Female
Dutch		Breed: Pit Bull Mix Dutch aka Grandpa is a senior dog with personality to spare. He's friendly, healthy, and energetic despite his years. He'd be even happier if he found a new forever home. He would do best as an only dog. Weight: 77.0 lbs. Age: 12 years old Sex: Male
Viola		Breed: Pit Bull Mix Viola came to BARC from the city shelter. She is a sweet lady with mismatched eyes -1 brown, 1 blue. Weight: 50 lbs Age: 3 years old Sex: Female

Interested adopters should visit the shelter. There are more dogs available than our Web listings indicate. We advise people to come and walk some of our dogs and play with our cats to get a better idea of which animal would be best for them. We are open for adoption, Tuesday through Saturday, 12pm - 5pm. Please come at least 2 hours BEFORE closing.

We require an adoption fee of $100. This covers, in part, the extensive medical care all of our pets receive before adoption, including:

examination and treatment by a veterinarian
spaying or neutering
current vaccinations against distemper, kennel cough (dogs) and rabies (if the pet is old enough)
testing for feline leukemia and feline AIDS or heartworm (dogs)
deworming, and
microchipping (dogs)

All adopters are required to complete and sign BARC's adoption agreement.

We adopted BELLA, a boxer/bulldog mix, from BARC in September 2004. Bella is our love and our buddy. We were lucky enough to be able to adopt her after she had spent about a week with you. She has a little pig tail but she does her best to wag it all the time! She is the most popular dog in Prospect Heights, it seems everyone we pass knows her name. She spends her evenings running with other dogs in Prospect Park...she especially likes her fellow bull dogs! The furniture is all hers and she loves to cuddle in bed. Although she snores louder than any human we know, we love her that much more for it. She will spending July with Amy's parents on Long Island while we visit Thailand for our honeymoon and we'll miss her terribly. But she loves running up and down the beach chasing waves and will have a honeymoon of her own. We are so grateful to BARC and the fantastic people who give their time to the animals there. We tell everyone we meet that Bella is a BARC dog! In lieu of favors at our July 3rd wedding, we will be making a donation to BARC in our guests' honor. We couldn't think of a more deserving cause. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
